Next the therapist leads the patient through progressive relaxation and then through facing the cause of the stress in order to overcome it. Scientific studies report that hypnotherapy used to decrease stress has been successful. Multiple experiments have tested on this subject and have concluded that people who have had hypnotherapy before a stressful event experienced significantly less stress than those who did not. In the tests, hypnotherapy was used to help people who were diagnosed with anxiety symptoms, others before and after surgical procedures, students preparing for exams (they also showed improvements in test achievement), and music students performing on stage.
