Medical hypnosis is the use of hypnosis to treat medical issues. This type of hypnosis should only be utilized by someone who has a health care background.
Melvin Marsh has worked in the Emergency Room of Dekalb Medical in Atlanta for over a year, Gold Cross (an ambulance service based in Augusta), and was in medical school for a while. Not many hypnotherapists, except for MDs who perform hypnosis, have a medical background. Melvin currently has an active EMT-B license through the state of Georgia and is listed in the NREMT.
So far, he has assisted with chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), wart reduction, and hypnobirthing, as well as surgical anesthesia. Melvin is also a certified Specialist in Attention Deficient Disorder (ADD/ADHD) Hypnosis as well as in Pre and Post Surgery Hypnosis.
Most forms of medical hypnosis will need a doctor’s referral, and Melvin will be more than happy to work as part of a medical team, both in-patient and out-patient.
